Bob Freije has resigned as football coach of the Maconaquah Braves following a difficult season that saw Mac finish 1-9.

  • FOOTBALL: Taylor cruises through Maconaquah
The only thing that could stop the Taylor offense Friday night was the final gun. Certainly the visiting Maconaquah Braves couldn’t.

  • Maconaquah no match for Cass
    BUNKER HILL — Dominant.
That is the only word to describe visiting Lewis Cass’ stampede Friday night as the Kings blitzed Maconaquah 69-0 in Mid-Indiana Conference play.

  • PREP SOCCER: Heights beats NW in title match
The girls soccer teams from Northwestern and Hamilton Heights tangled for the Mid-Indiana Conference hardware Monday night. Each entered the final league game unbeaten in conference play at 5-0 and both went home with bruises and injuries to show they’d been in a big game.

  • PREP ROUNDUP: It’s the Comets this time
Eastern girls soccer coach Kevin Duggins didn’t like watching his team lose to Western Saturday in a four-team event at Tipton.
Monday night, however, he may have thought the loss was worthwhile.

  • PREP ROUNDUP: Taylor tops Carroll in tennis
Strong doubles play helped Taylor down visiting Carroll 4-1 in a boys tennis match Monday.
Matt Petty and Reomey Northington rolled to a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles and Tim Simmons and Cody Hinton took a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.

  • FOOTBALL: Western muscles past Maconaquah
BUNKER HILL — Class 3A No.4 ranked Western flexed its muscles early against Mid-Indiana conference foe Maconaquah and stayed perfect on the season with a 47-21 victory.

  • PREP ROUNDUP: Eastern netters sweep county rivals
The Eastern Comets (8-4) stayed perfect in the Mid-Indiana Conference at 2-0 with the three game sweep of Howard County rival Northwestern.

  • FOOTBALL: Eastern’s victory bell is silent no more
GREENTOWN — It had been nearly three years since Eastern won a high school football game, so you can forgive the Comets for ringing the victory bell a few too many times and for running back onto the field to drench second-year coach Josh Edwards with water.
