Windmill Grill
Low stress, high quality

Walking into The Windmill Grill's relaxing atmosphere on a dusty Saturday afternoon, you just anticipate excellent food. (MAP)
Either door you walk in -- one faces Sycamore and another faces Dixon -- a host or hostess is waiting to seat you.
The decor is a charming mix of classic product advertisements with a train track circling the building's ceiling.
The menu offers a variety of sandwiches, burgers, steak, chicken, seafood, salads, pasta, desserts and appetizers.
There are always several specials to choose from, if your wallet is a little light.
My husband and I tried the chicken fingers for an appetizer, which were just the right size. They were nice and light, and come with a choice of ranch or barbecue sauce for dipping.
Next, we chose different sandwiches, (which happened to be specials as well) -- a pork tenderloin and a club sandwich.
My husband is always concerned with what comes on a restaurant sandwich, so he was glad to hear all the fixings come on the side, allowing the diner to decide what goes on it.
The club had a good selection of meat and vegetables and I didn't feel overly stuffed when I was done.
Both sandwiches also came with french fries and a side of cole slaw, along with packets of mayonnaise and mustard.
For dessert, I chose an apple dumpling, while my husband went for the carrot cake, his favorite. The apple dumpling was scrumptious and my husband enjoyed the carrot cake, although the icing was a little thick for his taste.
Lastly, if you need to take a break during the meal, The Windmill Grill has the best bathrooms I've ever seen in a restaurant: They have a special dispenser of toilet seat cleanser. All you do is get some toilet tissue, add a little cleanser and clean the seat.
There also is a dispenser with hand lotion, to make your hands nice and soft and you're ready to return to a great meal.
All in all, our dining experience at The Windmill Grill was a world away from the hustle and bustle of the outside.
We definitely plan to take out-of-town guests there.
