Flood legislators with tax letters
This letter is to the taxpayers all over the state. Our property tax is out of line all over the state. There is nothing fair about it.
I would like everyone in the state to write a letter to the state senators and state representatives and Gov. Mitch to put a 1 percent sales tax, and 1 percent income tax and a tax on beer, say 5 cents a can, and a tax on whiskey – start with about $2 on a gallon and work down to 50 cents on a half-pint – and the same for wine.
If they can raise the tax on a pack of cigarettes so easy, they can do the same with beer and whiskey and wine.
If they would do this, I don’t think we would have to pay much on our property taxes. I think most of our elected officials forget how they got into office. We, the voters, put them in office, and if they don’t vote the way we want them to, we can vote them out if we stick together.
The mayor of Indianapolis found out by not listening to what voters wanted. He lost out. And I think Gov. Mitch will be the next to go if he doesn’t listen to the wants of the voters.
So, voters, please write a letter to your legislator. Don’t ask for them to vote to lower your taxes. Tell them to do it, or you won’t vote for them.
Years ago, I belonged to a large union that had a saying, and I quote, “United we stand, divided we fall!”
If we can get taxpayers together, we can win. But you must write that letter. Flood them with letters. They know who butters their bread: the taxpayer.
