Letters to the editor - Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008

Is Obama ready for presidency?

I have been watching and listening to the DNC on television. I am appalled at the rhetoric that is transpiring among the Democrats. We have Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Bill Clinton standing up before the convention and singing all kinds of praises for Barack Obama.

Now, back during the campaign, they were all saying just the opposite, stating that Obama does not have what it takes to be president of the United States.

Politicians must think Americans are dumb and ignorant people. We all heard what they had to say about Obama, and now they are praising him as some kind of savior.

Now the question arises, which is the truth? Is what they said about Obama during the campaign the truth, or is it now they are telling the truth?

All this points out one truth: Anyone who waits for the campaign to start before making up their minds who they are going to vote for are either ignorant or just plain gullible. If you want to know where a politician stands on issues, look back to his or her record before the campaign began.

It also points out that if one is going to be a professional politician, they must be willing to carry truth on their sleeves and be willing to lie for the party.

In all the rhetoric going on now, there are moral issues that are being swept under the rug. The issue of killing unborn babies for one. If one is a student of the Bible, God recognized individuals in the womb of their mothers. Cases in point, Jacob and Esau and John the Baptist.

Another issue that is not popular is the truth about homosexuals. According to the Bible, it is a gross sin, along with other sins of adultery and fornication. All of these sins violate God’s laws.

God showed his disdain for homosexuals by destroying the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, along with three other cities. This in addition to the instructions that the Apostle Paul gave to the church in Rome (Romans 1:18-27).

I find it difficult to understand how a Christian can possibly vote for a candidate, regardless of party, that espouses abortion and homosexual issues.

There is something more important than economics in this day of voting for president of the United States.

Bloggers’ attacks ‘so objectionable’

My husband predicted it but I couldn’t believe it, much less think it could happen this fast. VP pick Sarah Palin is already being vilified by the left.

In pro-Obama blogs she is accused of being not the mother of Trig, a Down syndrome baby, but the grandmother. This disgusting attack uses a 2006 picture of Palin’s daughter, Bristol, showing a “baby bump” to prove something about a six-month old baby.

This is how the enlightened left attacks – not on issues but lies and gossip that are patently false and so objectionable. Keep it up and America will see what the real left is like.

Why is Obama allowing one of his most supportive sites, DailyKos, to publish this trash? Two reasons: He agrees with this style of attack, and he is desperate to make sure the focus is not on his secrets.
