Column helps open ‘many closed doors’
I can’t help but be so very touched when I read Ray Day’s column, “Unlock your precious memories.” The way he wrote it and the things he said just grabbed my heart so much, I had to write and say thank you.
It made me open so many closed doors. I have to say, I did cry. I guess we all worry too much about what anyone will think of us.
Ray opened up my heart to tell my only grandson exactly where and why and whom we come from, and how we all got to be where we are now. Thank you.
I’m telling you, I could write a book! Due to my failing health, I would be the one taking all of those memories with me. I guess they all must come to an end sometime.
Thank you, Mr. Day. You’ve given me a lot to think about.

More programs mean more taxes
It is very obvious that people are dissatisfied with the government-controlled social programs we have now, such as Medicaid and Medicare, but it really is puzzling to me that they can be duped into accepting another government-controlled program that will be the largest taxpayer-subsidized program yet!
I’m referring to the universal health care plan (better known as socialized medicine) that is being implemented in the same old subtle scheme “for the children or for the public good.”
Seems to me that people would be able to see through this organized smoke screen, but evidently not.
I agree our medical care system is definitely broken, but that wasn’t the case until the government imposed its mandated “codes for insurance coverage” into the system.
With all its faults we still have the best medical care system in the world.
People should be very skeptical when the government wants to replace or expand an existing social program ... it always means more taxes!
God only knows we have enough government-controlled social programs now and many more than our taxes can subsidize ... but not to worry ... if the tax base is not sufficient, just raise taxes again!
Sound familiar?

NFL’s Vick deserves some ‘cosmic justice’
Recently I heard that former pro football player Michael Vick is behind bars for his involvement with dog-fighting.
Cosmic justice in action: Michael Vick incarcerated in a cell block populated only by dog lovers.
