A small Greentown fire led to 3,246 homes losing power Thursday morning. Customers were without power from 4:50 a.m. to 7:11 a.m.
The cause was an electrical pole that caught fire, affecting the Greenwood Maple Street substation.
“[The fire] was probably due to equipment failure, possibly due to rain and insulator failure,” said Duke Energy spokeswoman Angeline Proteger.
The Greentown Fire Department responded to the fire call.
