Police and fire investigators are looking for a suspect or suspects who torched two porches and the exterior of a garage early Friday on the city’s south side.
No one was injured in the fires that occurred within 28 minutes and a few blocks of each other.
Firefighters were first called about 5:20 a.m. to a fire on a front porch of a home at 815 S. Main St., Kokomo Fire Department Deputy Chief Brad Myers said.
The blaze caused heavy damage to the porch and smoke and water damage inside the home. The occupants were home at the time and escaped without injury, Myers said.
Minutes later, fire crews were called to a second front porch on fire at the northwest corner of Markland Avenue and Armstrong Street.
Fire crews contained that fire to the front porch. It caused only minor damage.
Minutes after that report firefighters headed to a third small fire on the exterior of a garage a few blocks away at 1016 S. Webster St.
Kokomo police canvassed the area looking for suspects or clues while firefighters battled the three fires.
No arrests had been made as of Friday and arson investigators continue to investigate.
