Kokomo company wins EMA bid

By KEN de la BASTIDE

A Kokomo company has been awarded the contract to construct the new Howard County Emergency Management Agency facility.

The Howard County Commissioners awarded the contract in the amount of $1,006,574 to C&Z Construction on Wednesday, less than 12 hours after the county council approved the final funding requirements.

Beau Mitchell of Peru submitted a bid of $1,042,57 for the project.

The county council voted Tuesday to approve an additional $100,000 for the project from the Cumulative Capital Development (CCD) Fund.

The EMA building on Berkley Road was destroyed by fire in March 2007.
