Moses Bontrager
Sept. 18, 1918 - Aug. 19, 2008
Moses Bontrager, 89, Kokomo, died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at his residence. He was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Howard County, to Abe and Anna (Beachy) Bontrager. On Jan. 8, 1942, he married Tillie (Herschberger). He lived in matrimony for 66 years, and she survives.
He was involved in farming and carpentry, and also had a harness shop from 1978 to 2001. He was a member of the Old Order Amish.
He is survived by his wife, Tillie Bontrager, Kokomo; three sons and spouses and two daughters and spouses, Joe and (Verba) Bontrager, Nappanee, Jerry and (Katie) Bontrager and Marvin and (Lucy) Bontrager, all of Kokomo, Verna Bontrager and Marie Bontrager, both of Kokomo; grandchildren, Janice and Glen Miller, Virgil and Doretta Bontrager, Debra and Willie Lehman, John and Barbara Bontrager, Merl Bontrager, Eugene Bontrager, Jolene and Andrew Schwartz, Cathy and Mike Slabaugh, Miriam, Aaron, Homer, and Norman Bontrager, Nelson and Krista Bontrager, Vernon and Ada, Nathan and Abraham Bontrager; 25 great-grandchildren; one brother, Andy (Louise) Bontrager, Kokomo; sister, Verna Bontrager, Ohio; sister-in-law, Emma Bontrager, Kokomo; four nephews and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Anna (Beachy) Bontrager; five brothers, Christ, Elam and Jonas; and twins Eli and Levi; and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services are planned for 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Marvin Bontrager Residence, 2692 N. 500 East, Kokomo, with Bishop Marvin Otto officiating. Burial will follow in Christner Cemetery in Miami County. Friends and family may visit the Marvin Bontrager Residence all day on today.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VNS hospice with envelopes at the calling and service. The family especially wants to thank the many who visited and prayed for them during his illness and also for the food that was brought in. May God richly bless you for your kindness.
