2 arrested in rolling meth lab

Kokomo police arrested two men Saturday afternoon after they found remnants of a methamphetamine lab inside the car.

Officer stopped the car on East Jefferson Street near Sumers Park and found remnants of a methamphetamine lab inside the car and in the truck, according to police reports.

Officers made the stop about 4 p.m. When officers saw precursors to the manufacturing of meth in the car, they called for backup and searched the car, Sgt. Neal Marcus reported.

That’s when officers found items consistent of a meth lab in the trunk.

Neal said the driver, Oscar T. Hollingsworth, 42, faces charges of conspiracy to manufacture meth within 1,000 feet of a public park, possession of a meth lab within 1,000 feet of public park, violent felon in possession of a handgun, possession of controlled substance, habitual traffic violator.

Christopher Barela, 26, a passenger in the car, faces charges of conspiracy to manufacture meth within 1,000 feet public of park, possession of a drug lab within 1,000 feet of a public park and possession of marijuana.

Arrests


Thursday, 4:45 p.m., police arrested Ricky Z. Hampton Jr., 20, 600 block of Bradford Circle, at Madison and Purdum streets, on a charge of possession of marijuana. Police also arrested Antoine Lewis, 25, Florida, on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and dealing in cocaine.

Friday, 8 a.m., police arrested a 16-year-old male at McKinley School, on a charge of truancy.

Friday, 10:29 a.m., police arrested a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male at McKinley School, each on a charge of truancy.

Friday, 1:03 p.m., police arrested Lisa Deberry, 26, South Bend, at Carter Street and U.S. 31, on a charge of reckless driving.

Friday, 5:15 p.m., police arrested Sabrina Nix, 40, 1300 block of South Waugh Street, at North and LaFountain streets, on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and implied consent.

Friday, 6:35 p.m., police arrested two 13-year-old females at 2156 E. Boulevard, on a charge of conversion.
